Terminology: Religion

These are the definitions that I’ve seen people actually applying to the word Religion possibly depending on convenience.

1. Refers to Christianity alone

2. Refers to all the world’s religions

3. Refers to all the world’s religions except Atheism (possibly because they want to look neutral.)

4. Refers to all the world’s religions except Christianity (like in laws where free speech and religions are protected unless Jesus is mentioned)

5. Worldview

6. The rules an individual uses to define how the world works.

Can you think of more ways … contradictory or not based on how the word religion is used what other meanings it has picked up?

Worldview Matters – Silver and Gold and a little extra food

I don’t think this recession is going to come to an end before it gets much much worse. My best advice would be to prepare as best you can. Gold and Silver can act as a hedge against financial issues. 30 days of food will help in the event of an emergency. Some is better than none. We know how our govt. handles dis…asters like Katrina and the Oil Spill I’m not willing to be dependent on our govt any more than I’m forced to. I’m providing a link to an Mp3 which should be up till at least Oct 1 (maybe longer) that provides more info. The financial info starts around 19 mins into the audio.

Worldview Matters
Brannon Howse: September 17, 2010

Topic One: The power of Scripture to
change hearts and minds.

Topic Two: International House of Prayer being sued by International House of Pancakes. The Dominion Theology crowd may lose dominion over their church name.

Topic Three: Gold hits another high of $1,275.95. Topic Four: Economist John Walter Williams says hyperinflation will start in six to nine months. What does that mean and how should the average person respond and prepare?

Topic Four:
Economist Peter Schiff says silver could reach $100 per ounce as the dollars collapses. Schiff also says “The united States right now is completely powerless to prevent runaway inflation”.

Topic Five:
Americans using credit cards they can’t pay back so they are going out with a bang. Topic Six: United States Joint Forces Command warns that huge U.S. debt might lead to default or revolution. Topic Seven: Why silver will become the “poor man’s gold”. Topic Eight: We take your
calls.

Liberalism is a mental health disorder

Wow… this is very similar to what happens to me. I say one thing and let the straw man arguments begin.

Franklin Graham’s Prayer National Day of Prayer

From http://www.whoradio.com/cc-common/mainheadlines3.html?feed=150515&article=7083300

Recently the Rev. Franklin Graham, son of the renowned evangelist Billy Graham, had his invitation to be the honorary chairman at the U.S. military’s “National Day of Prayer” function rescinded because he – gasp! – thinks Christianity is true and Islam is not and is willing to say so and stand by it.

Although the brass of the American military may suppress the truth as they drown in a wretched sea of political correctness, we here at “Deace in the Afternoon” suffer from no such affliction. Therefore, our blog post today in honor of the “National Day of Prayer” is Franklin Graham’s prayer for our nation that he won’t get to give to our brave soldiers today after all.

Lord,

We are thankful for the abundant blessings You have bestowed on America. Our forefathers looked to You as Protector, Provider, and the Promise of hope. But we have wandered far from that firm foundation. May we repent for turning our backs on Your faithfulness.

We pray that this great nation will be restored by Your forgiveness.

From bondage, You grant freedom.

Through Your own sacrifice, You offer salvation.

From the state of despair, You offer peace.

From the bounties of Heaven, You have blessed and not because of our goodness, but by Your grace.

You have given us freedom to worship You in spirit and in truth as Your Holy Word instructs. May our lives honor You in word and deed. May our nation acknowledge that all good things come from the Father above.

President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed that our nation should set apart a day for national prayer to confess our sins and transgressions in sorrow, “yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon . . . announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.  We have vainly imagined in the deceitfulness of our own hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superiour wisdom and virtue of our own . . .we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God who made us! It behooves us then . . . to confess our national sins and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.”

Help us to pray earnestly for our president and leaders who govern, that they will humble themselves and seek Your guidance so that everything we do will shine the light of Your glory in a darkened world.

May our prayers as a people and a nation be heard and blessed for such a time as this. We make this plea in faith, believing in the mighty Name of Jesus our Lord.

Amen.

Link crazy

Yeah, I know I’ve been a bit Link crazy lately.  I’m not giving up on blogging, but I’ve been a bit busy.  So in the mean time, I’ve tried to post some links regarding a few current events here and there.

I was on vacation two weeks ago and then a retreat and with the end of the quarter I was in meetings all week long.

This weeks been a bit better, but I’m now in need of rest.

Once things settle a bit I’ll try to start getting some of my own stuff once again.

In May I’m gonna hit the FireFlight concert in Minnesota but then I think I’ll be done with the road trips for a while.

later.

On a lighter note

On a lighter less serious note, I’ve got a scanner and have begun scanning a lot of my art … er sketches from High School until now.

Unfortunately, as a high school student, sketching his way thru his education ;^) I usually ended up with lined paper for my precious art.

So please enjoy some humor of a high school student, from the early 90s.

Now if I can just find the stuff I did in college, then you could see my work from 1995-1998.

I didn’t do much after that with work and all, but I’ve started up again, as the trinexdey collage is new. and I’ll try to find my sad elf in the snow pic I did a few months ago.

My sketches are still not great, they’re just for fun sometimes I even managed poor comic level.

Hopefully with a little practice, I can improve again. Mostly, I lack consistency.

But here goes. If some of the drawings look familiar, I was a fan of certain Turtle shows and Transforming creatures. I also drew from some of my toys for inspiration.

No tracing, although I do like to do copies of photos by looking. If I can find it I have a not so bad Abe Lincoln hiding… if he’s still around.

I found one of Rockefeller, good ole History with the book of good pictures to draw….

later.
